This edition is the product of the work of many people, a state of affairs which is typical for multimedia products. Some of us were only involved in the project for a short time, others for much longer. The particular contributions of each of the collaborators are listed below. None of us could have done the work without the others, and we are all grateful for the contributions of each.

• Terrence Asgar-Deen worked half-time on the project in summer of 1994, when he was just finished his first year of the Computer Science BSc at the University of Calgary. He took the prototype hypertext that Kelly Thompson had developed and tried to figure out how to implement it in SGML using the TEI DTD. While this effort was never taken to completion, Terrence did succeed in producing prototype SGML files for manuscript transcriptions based on the files produced by Lynnette Chong, Christine Hoffos, and Heidi Kurtz, and working out many of the project's encoding problems.
• Stan Beeler was an initial collaborator in the project when it was proposed to SSHRC for funding in 1991. Stan helped Murray McGillivray with some basic conceptualization and planning, and collaborated with Murray in some early experiments with graphics files. Stan left the project in 1992 when he moved to the University of Northern British Columbia.
• Sally Chivers was a graduating Honours student in English at the University of Calgary when she joined the project for the summer in 1994. Sally improved Heidi Kurtz's glossary and Lynnette Chong's explanatory notes, moving both of these components along considerably.
• Lynnette Choon-Ling Chong was an MA student in English at the University of Calgary who worked with Murray McGillivray before SSHRC funding was obtained for the project. She produced an edition of the Bodleian MS Fairfax 16 version of the Book of the Duchess as her Masters thesis in 1992, visiting the Bodeleian in May to do final checking; her accurate transcription and her explanatory notes, though revised and checked by others, are the basis of those parts of the present edition.
• Charmaine Connop-Scollard is a University of Calgary Communications Media employee who worked with Murray McGillivray on securing summer funding in 1992 and 1993 for the project and on configuring the edition to meet educational needs. She also supervised the production of sound files for the edition.
• Curtis Jensen worked on the mastering of the CD-ROM and set up the link between the CD and the Web site.
• Christine Hoffos worked on the project as part of her Masters thesis in English at the University of Calgary. During the summer of 1992, she completed the transcriptions (of MSS Tanner 346 and Bodley 638 and of Thynne's edition) that remained to be done after Lynnette Chong's work, using the published facsimiles; during the following year, she improved those transcriptions, visiting the Bodleian to do final checking of her transcriptions.
• Heidi Kurtz worked on the project during the summer and fall of 1993 and the winter of 1994, when she was an MA student in English at the University of Calgary. She proofread the transcriptions done by Lynnette Chong and Christine Hoffos, scanned some source texts (especially the Roman de la rose), produced a full bibliography, and began work on the glossary, starting with a concordance of the poem produced using the WordCruncher program. During the fall of 1993, she worked together with Kelly Thompson on the Guide prototype.
• Mike Mattson, a New Media Centre producer, coordinated the final assembling and mastering of the CD-ROM.
• Murray McGillivray supervised, checked, and revised the work of all of the other collaborators. He did everything that is not explicitly attributed to another person in these notes, and he alone takes all blame for the inevitable errors, giving to the other collaborators all credit for their accuracy and diligence.
• Michael Mary McGrath produced graphic design for the CD itself.
• Rob McLean worked on the sound files during 1995-96, when he was an MA student in English at the University of Calgary.
• Blair McNaughton proofread Christine Hoffos's transcription of Thynne's edition, scanned some Old French source texts, and worked on sound files, HTML coding, and organizational tasks during his time as a Masters student in English at the University of Calgary in 1995-96.
• Michelle O'Brien turned the proofread scans of the Jugement dou Roy de Behaingne and some short Machaut lyrics into HTML documents to fulfill an assignment in Murray McGillivray's fall 1996 course on "Cybertext."
• Greg Phillips of the New Media Centre was sound recording engineer and participated in digitizing the sound as well as supervising and instructing Rob McLean and Blair McNaughton.
• Kelly Thompson worked half-time for the project during the summer of 1993 when he was about to enter his final year in the Computer Science BSc program at the University of Calgary. Most of his work was devoted to developing a prototype of the hypertext using the Guide authoring system, work that he continued through the fall of 1993.
• Laurie Whitley, an MFA student in photography at the University of Calgary at the time and an artist who works with digital images, worked with Murray McGillivray to test Kodak PhotoCD as a digitizing process for manuscript photographs in 1994, using medieval manuscript leaves donated to the University of Calgary Library by Evelyn de Mille. Their work was presented at the 1994 meeting of the Canadian Bibliographical Society.
