English for Academic Purposes Program

This U of C program is designed for prospective internationally educated students intent on completing an undergraduate or graduate degree who need help in meeting the English Language Proficiency Requirement. Also, students who lack English Language Arts 30-1 may meet this requirement through completion of EAP Tier 3 courses. Additionally, the program now offers seminars on scholarly writing and communications for admitted graduate students, as well as visiting scholars and post-doctoral candidates.

Recommendations for the EAP Program:

  1. It is not limited for international students but is also for landed immigrants.
  2. It can help both undergraduate and graduate applicants to meet the respective English Language Proficiency Requirement (not the TOFL requirement) for admission purposes.
  3. The completion of the program can satisfy 2 separate and distinct English Language requirements for undergraduate admission purposes:
    • A. The English subject acceptable in lieu of the Alberta English Language Arts 30-1; and
    • B. The English Language Proficiency requirement.
  4. Regarding our English for Academic Purposes for Graduate Students (EAPG) seminars, we are currently offering 2 different seminars:
    • A. EAPG Advance Writing Seminar, and
    • B. EAPG Advanced Communications Seminar.
