We offer international and U of C students many opportunities to get involved with the international educational experience. Students can volunteer with the Centre for International Students and Study Abroad (CISSA) and participate in many of its programs.
We recruit students every year to volunteer short or long term as Resource Assistants. You play an important role in the operation of CISSA, working in the office and helping to organize programs and specific projects or events, such as International Education Week.
We select 5 or 6 students every year to work as Program Assistants. You work closely with CISSA staff in coordinating and facilitating programs and services for international and U of C students in the Global Friendship Program and Study Abroad Promotions.

This is a volunteer program in which current University of Calgary students are matched with new international students. The goal is to assist in the transition of new students to the U of C and enhance the new student experience.
Mentors are recruited twice a year: once in March (for the Fall Term) and once in October (for the Winter Term only). Once Mentors are matched with international students, they will correspond via email prior to the arrival of the international student to Calgary. Once the international student arrives, they will meet with their Mentor in person.
Mentors are trained to respond to routine questions, e.g. housing, using the Student Administration system, buying text books, getting around Calgary. Mentor commitment involves continued communication with the new student through email, monthly meetings, and optional social activities such as trips and events. The program ends at the end of April.
