Mentoring Program

This is a volunteer program in which current University of Calgary students are matched with new international students. The goal is to assist in the transition of new students to the U of C and enhance the new student experience.

Mentors are recruited twice a year: once in March (for the Fall Term) and once in October (for the Winter Term only). Once Mentors are matched with international students, they will correspond via email prior to the arrival of the international student to Calgary. Once the international student arrives, they will meet with their Mentor in person.

Mentors are trained to respond to routine questions, e.g. housing, using the Student Administration system, buying text books, getting around Calgary. Mentor commitment involves continued communication with the new student through email, monthly meetings, and optional social activities such as trips and events. The program ends at the end of April.
