Faculty of Arts: Board declares name official
The Board of Governors voted in favour of a recommendation to give the name Faculty of Arts to the amalgamated faculties of Communication and Culture, Humanities, Fine Arts and Social Sciences at its December 9 meeting. The name will officially take effect April 1, 2010 when the new faculty comes into being. >more.

Board of Governors' votes to unify arts and social sciences faculties
On June 25 the University of Calgary Board of Governors voted to unify the faculties of communication and culture, fine arts, humanities and social sciences into a single faculty. A transition process will begin July 1 and the new faculty will launch April 1, 2010. >more.
After soliciting input through an extensive campus-wide consultation process, on June 25 the Board of Governors voted to unify the Faculties of Communication and Culture, Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences into a single faculty.
A transition team has been established to implement the transition to a single faculty by April 1, 2010. The transition team will use this space to provide regular updates to the campus community on its progress. The goals of the transition team are to:
