What is formative feedback for teaching development?

Formative feedback is defined as an intentional, voluntary, developmental strategy for instructors to initiate and receive feedback (from various sources) about their teaching with the goal of better understanding and improving student learning.


Background
The Formative Feedback for Teaching Development Initiative was developed to enhance and advance formative feedback for teaching development processes at the University of Calgary.
Research Project
This study will investigate and document formative feedback for teaching development processes in Canadian and International higher education institutions.
Resources
The resources site will provide instructors and teaching and learning centres with information, resources and strategies to incorporate into teaching and their practice. The resources can be downloaded and adapted.
