Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Foundations for Graduate Students

Welcome, prospective SoTLers!

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Foundations Program for Graduate Students invites graduate students across all disciplines interested in SoTL to join us for our first session of the year, From Teaching to Learning. Here, we will learn about one another, talk about what SoTL is, and consider what we hope to achieve in these sessions. We will then consider Barr and Tagg's (1995), “From teaching to learning: A new paradigm for undergraduate education.” This thought-provoking piece lays bare the instruction and learning paradigms, offering us great material to use to reflect on our own experiences teaching and learning. This will be a warm and welcoming environment in which we can, together, dip our toes into the SoTL world.

The reading for this session is:

Barr, R. B. & Tagg, J. (1995). From teaching to learning: A new paradigm for undergraduate education. Change, 27(6). 12-25.
