In Part 1 of this workshop, we explored characteristics of a University of Calgary classroom environment, and strategies to engage students, communicate concepts, and ask and answer questions effectively. In this hands-on session (Part 2), you will be provided with opportunities to practice effective communication strategies in the teaching and learning environment through case study, role play, and observation. Whether or not you attended the first session, come to this workshop to discuss, talk, practice, laugh, reflect, give and receive feedback on communication skills.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to
- Identify strategies to handle a variety of situations that they might encounter in their teaching and learning role
- Practice implementing strategies to communicate effectively in response to a variety of situations
- Analyze effective communication strategies, and provide and receive feedback to/from their colleagues
There is no pre-requisite for this session. If you missed Part 1 of the workshop, you are welcome to attend this session.
This workshop can be used toward the 2017-2018 Emerging Teachers Development Program.
