*NEW* Institutional Sustainability Report (ISR)

Released June 28, 2012
The 2010-2011 Sustainability Report is a snapshot of the university's progress in fulfilling its commitment to sustainability. This report includes information about the environmental, economic and social effects of institutional activities up to the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2011. The University of Calgary is proud to be the first institution in Canada to complete a GRI compliant sustainability report.

Since the end of the 2010 - 2011 reporting year, sustainability has been affirmed as a core value in the Eyes High strategic direction and as one of seven institutional priorities in the 2012 Academic Plan.

We invite you to forward comments on this report  to sustain@ucalgary.ca.  Input provided will guide the development of our 2013 Sustainability Report.

ISP

 

Institutional Sustainability Plan (ISP)

Released April 2011
The ISP is a framework for acting upon the U of C’s commitment to sustainability within its business planning processes.  Recognizing that the U of C is engaged in a number of activities that support sustainability, the ISP provides an institutional wide understanding of strategic priorities for sustainability and is intended to support effective and collaborative planning at administrative, faculty and business unit levels. 

The ISP addresses a holistic approach to campus sustainability encompassing the sectors described in the U of C Sustainability Policy: administration; teaching, research, and service as well as campus operations.

Climate Action Plan (CAP)

Released on November 24, 2010
The U of C’s 2010 Climate Action Plan identifies proposed actions for reducing operational greenhouse gas emissions; proposed institutional greenhousegas emission reduction goals; underscores institutional leadership in research and teaching within energy, environment and climate change related fields; and highlights growing momentum in related student leadership.

Office of Sustainability

The primary purpose of the Office of Sustainability is to enhance the understanding of sustainability in the context of research, teaching and community service , to integrate sustainability broadly into campus operations, and to build participation across the University in sustainability stewardship.  The Office of Sustainability supports the University of Calgary in its efforts towards becoming a North American model for sustainability in higher education. 

The Office of Sustainability is part of Facilities Management and Development (FM+D).
