Over your first six weeks at UCalgary, develop skills you will need to achieve personal and academic success throughout your university career.
Through the My First Six Weeks New Student Orientation program, you will build a foundation of academic skills and learn about important resources available to support you throughout your entire degree. The program begins with a one-day event on Friday, September 9th, after which students will have access to valuable online resources, will submit a self-assessment, and will attend two sessions of the exam-preparation event W²rap Up in November.
The one-day My First Six Weeks event on September 9th is open to all first-year students and includes a series of seminars on topics relevant to first-year university life such as writing and study strategies, time management techniques, ways to harness stress for enhanced performance, and information about valuable campus resources.
In addition to helping you prepare academically, the My First Six Weeks program, as well as its follow-up program W²rap Up, are great opportunities for personal growth and to meet other new students, all while further enhancing strategies for academic success. When all requirements of the My First Six Weeks program are completed the achievement can be recorded on your Co-Curricular Record.
The certificate and associated co-curricular entry is awarded to students who engage in the following:
