CURRENT POSTINGS

Dr. Donald Welsh:

Graduate and Postdoctoral Positions in Vascular Physiology
Position Description: Our lab studies how ion channels/gap junctions control smooth muscle contractility and the nature of excitation-contraction coupling in vascular networks. Our projects provide an excellent opportunity for trainees to develop skill with patch clamp electrophysiology, confocal microscopy and molecular approaches to alter the ion channel activity in resistance arteries

We are looking for motivated trainees to contribute to this research environment. My lab is associated with the Hotchkiss Brain and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute at the University of Calgary. The collaborative nature of our training environment provides trainees an in depth and basic understanding of vascular biology.

Eligibility Requirements: Postdoctoral fellows must have obtained their PhD within the last 4 years and a documented interest in vascular biology. Potential graduate students must have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.4/4.0 or equivalent.

Contact: Applicants should submit a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae to: Dr. Donald Welsh at dwelsh@ucalgary.ca (403-210-3819).

Dr. Andrew Braun:

My laboratory has an immediate opening for a post-doctoral fellow and/or graduate student to join ongoing research projects.  Candidates should have a background in cellular physiology/biology/biochemistry.  Hands-on experience with fluorescence microscopy, pressurized vessel myography or patch clamp electrophysiology is desirable.  Applications should be sent directly to Andrew Braun.  Please include an updated curriculum vitae and teh names and contact information for at least two individuals willing to provide letters of recommendation. abraun@ucalgary.ca; 403-220-8861 (t); 403-270-2211 (f).
