Graduate Students

The Smooth Muscle Research Group offers trainees opportunities to do both graduate work and postdoctoral training. SMRG is a multi-disciplinary research group, with extensive interaction between laboratories and investigators. This setting exposes one to a vast array of departments at the University of Calgary including physiology, medical biochemistry, pharmacology, biological sciences, and pediatric medicine which encourages both innovative and creative approaches to both learning and research. Students with strong academic abilities and interpersonal skills are encouraged to apply.

M.Sc. and Ph.D. students within the Smooth Muscle Research Group belong to one of three graduate programs. These include the Cardiovascular/Respiratory Graduate Program, the Medical Sciences Graduate Program and the Molecular Biology/Biochemistry Graduate Program. Kertland Doctoral Scholarships
David S. (Kim) Kertland has been a significant supporter of the scientific community at the University of Calgary. Through his contributions, Mr. Kertland has fostered the development of vascular biology within the Faculty of Medicine. This scholarship reflects his commitment to the next generation of scientists involved in basic vascular biology research
