There are 45 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras on campus—14 exterior cameras on buildings or in parking lots and 31 interior cameras mounted inside buildings.
Twenty four hours a day a Campus Security dispatcher uses the CCTV system to monitor the university grounds as well as high traffic and sensitive areas inside buildings.
There are many ways the CCTV system enhances the safety and security of the university community. Primarily the CCTV system is used to observe suspicious activity and detect criminal activity, helping security officers respond in a timely and effective manner.
Campus Security and the CCTV system have been instrumental in deterring criminal activity, and apprehending car prowlers, computer thieves and vandals.
