University of Calgary

About Us

Whether you are a prospective undergraduate or graduate student, current student, alumnus, or just visiting, I am thrilled to see that you are interested in the Faculty of Science.

Science plays a prominent role at the University of Calgary as it is the largest Faculty on campus. Within the Faculty of Science there are six departments -- Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Geoscience, Mathematics & Statistics, and Physics & Astronomy -- each of which are recognized worldwide for leading research and discoveries made in their respective areas. New to the list in 2003 was our Natural Sciences Program, which offers a multi disciplinary approach to the world of undergraduate science. The faculty presents two collaborative programs -- Earth Science and Environmental Science -- that are offered in conjunction with the Faculty of Arts.

As our news archives clearly demonstrate, the Faculty of Science plays a prominent role outside of the immediate U of C campus. Our students, faculty members, staff and alumni all contribute to the larger Calgary community, Canada as a whole and the global community as well. Their research, teaching, professional and community efforts help us generate excitement about science, solved some of the world's most complex problems, and generate new knowledge about the world around us.
