Message from the Advisory Committee on Health, Wellbeing and Effectiveness To Members of the University Community The University of Calgary is committed to the health and wellbeing of the students, staff, and faculty that make up this community. One of the University's Human Values promotes "personal and organizational wellness and achievement". The Scent Free Awareness Campaign is one opportunity we have to demonstrate this value. There is a growing understanding that the health of some people is adversely affected by exposure to scented products. There are members of our community who may not be able to use facilities such as the Library, theatres, classrooms, and even some workspaces due to the presence of scented personal care products. If they are able to be present, their ability to study or work can be significantly reduced by their symptoms. The Scent Free Awareness Campaign is being launched to increase awareness of these health effects. Some products you are using may be making someone else ill. Also, the campaign will provide information about alternative unscented products that are easily available. "We Share the Air", the Scent Free Awareness Campaign, is an initiative of the University of Calgary Indoor Air Quality Committee with input from many interested stakeholders on campus. We encourage you to review this website for more information on this very real concern and for more awareness of how we do, in fact, "share the air". --- Advisory Committee on Health, Wellbeing and Effectiveness |
