Application Process for Returning Applicants

Step 1 - Application

The Community Advisor application process for the 2012-2013 academic year is now closed.  The text below is for information purposes only.

You do not have to be a current residence student to apply as a returning staff member, but you must have worked with the Residence Education Team at the University of Calgary at least once before.  If you have never been a residence staff member at the University of Calgary before, click here for information on how to apply as a new Community Advisor.

If you are living outside of Calgary and you cannot drop off your application in person, please PDF and email your application package, including your cover letter and résumé, to Jason Bowers at jfbowers@ucalgary.ca.

Step 2 - Returning Staff Member Presentation

Once we have received your application, the Residence Life Coordinators will provide you with the information you require to prepare a presentation for your individual interview, be it in person or over the phone.

Step 3 - Individual Interviews

Interviews for returning staff will take place in early February (dates will be announced in your staff meetings).

Step 4 - Decisions

This is often the most challenging part of the hiring process: building the right team. A cohesive Residence Education Team needs diversity: different people with different skills make us strong.

Utilizing what we have learned about you from your application, presentation, and individual interview, The Residence Life Coordinators will select the Residence Education Team for the upcoming year. We will also select alternate candidates who may be offered a position during the summer or even during the following year as staff teams change.

On Friday, February 17, 2012, you will receive a decision letter by Registered Mail at Residence Services for current residence students.  For students who live off-campus, letters will be available at the Residence Services front desk.  Letters should be available by noon on that day.
