All research at the University of Calgary must be compliant with university Policies and their linked Procedures. These Policies and Procedures undergo rigorous and broadly-based review and are ultimately approved by the Board of Governors and General Faculties Council, the highest authority at the University of Calgary.
Policies and Procedures related to research ensure compliance with important policies of external agencies, such as those of the Tri-Council, including Responsible Conduct of Research and the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans 2nd Edition (TCPS 2).
Each fall, faculty engaged in research must sign an Annual Compliance and Eligibility Certificate to acknowledge that they have read and will comply with University of Calgary Policies and Procedures, and other relevant policies (Tri-Council, NIH). Click here to see an example of the Annual Compliance and Eligibility Certificate. Failure to comply leads to suspension of all research funding.
