Attending university is an experience like no other, and can impact you in myriad ways. What drives your experience is the community you join, and it is community that we want to promote.
The Non-Academic Misconduct Policy helps support an environment of personal accountability in a diverse educational setting. Our community, made up of students, staff , faculty and at times, the general public, relies on everyone to be respectful of each other. Our aim is to foster an environment that is safe, inclusive and promotes a successful student experience.
The Non-Academic Misconduct Policy applies to all students of the University of Calgary. This policy applies while on campus or acting as a representative of the university at off campus venues and events.
File a complaint
Any member of the campus community, including students, staff and faculty, may file a complaint concerning a violation of this policy, and are typically made within three working days. Complaints are submitted to the Manager of Student Conduct who will review the report and respond in accordance with the policy. Students who have allegedly been involved in non-academic misconduct will be asked to attend a hearing.
What is a hearing?
A hearing is a meeting between the student and the Manager of Student Conduct, and is an opportunity for the student to explain the extent of their involvement in the incident in question. If a student chooses not to attend the hearing, the Manager makes a decision about the complaint with information that is available.
