What do I need to do in order to receive my degree?

As you approach the completion of your degree requirements, you MUST apply for your degree on myUofC (PeopleSotf Student Centre). In doing so you notify the University and your Faculty that you expect to complete the requirements for your degree by a specific date. All students must apply (even if you will not be attending the ceremony). Please see myUofC (PeopleSotf Student Centre). .

I am in my final year. How do I confirm that I have completed my degree requirements?

To ensure that you have satisfied all the requirements for your degree, check with your Faculty.

How do I indicate that I wish to participate in the ceremony?

You MUST register to attend your convocation ceremony. Seats are only reserved for graduands who advise the Convocation Office that they are attending. It is imperative that you advise that you are attending so there is enough seating for the graduands. Where is the convocation ceremony held?

The convocation ceremony is held at the Jack Simpson Gymnasium (Kinesiology Complex) at the University of Calgary.

Will the minor fields of study or a concentration for my program appear on the degree?

Minors and approved concentrations will not be indicated on degrees but will be noted on the official transcript.

Who do I contact regarding purchasing a degree frame?

Contact the Alumni Association at (403) 220-8500.

Who do I contact in regards to purchasing graduation items?

Contact the University Bookstore at (403) 220-5939, FAX (403) 284-4454.

Can anyone attend the Convocation ceremony and do I need tickets for my guests?

Guests are welcome at the Convocation ceremony - you may invite as many as you wish. Tickets are not required. All seating is in bleachers. Guests are asked to be seated at least one-half hour prior to the ceremony. Handicapped and elderly guests may be dropped off at the Olympic Oval Complex and upon entering the Oval Complex ushers will show them to the seating areas. The University does not have any wheelchairs except for emergency situations. Parking is available in Pay Parking Lots 10, 11 and 12 and limited covered parking is available in the Art Parkade. There is also parking available for those with Special Needs in metered Parking Lot 9. Pay parking is in effect at all public lots.

Where can I pick up my degree if I decide not to attend the ceremony?

Graduands can pick up their degree after the last day of Convocation at Enrolment Services located in the MacKimmie Library Block room 117. A piece of photo ID is required.

If you are unable to come in someone else (with their own photo ID) may pick your degree up for you with written permission from you. Please sign the permission letter. Our office hours are - Monday - Friday: 9:30am - 4:30pm and Thursday: 10:00am - 4:30pm.

What do I need to do to get a certified copy of my degree?

You must bring your degree (as you have the only copy) to the front desk of the Office of the Registrar and we will certify a copy for you. The cost is $4.00 per copy.
