The Fiddle and The Drum

The Faculty of Communication and Culture, in conjunction with the Alberta Ballet presents Dr. Kathleen Scherf, Dean of the Faculty, and Jean Grande-Maître, Artistic Director of the Alberta Ballet in a discussion of "The Fiddle and The Drum." This is a semi-abstract narrative ballet created around the music of Joni Mitchell.

Climate Change Debate

The Faculty of Communication and Culture, in conjunction with the Calgary Opera Society hosted a debate on climate change. This was in conjunction with the Opera's premiere of the new Canadian opera, "Frobisher," written by John Estacio and John Murrell. Participants were Dr. David Keith, Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Karim-Aly Kassam, Faculty of Communication and Culture, Dr. John Kendall, former Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Shawn Marshall, Faculty of Social Sciences (Geography), and Dr. David Swann, Member of the Legislative Assembly.

Famous 5 Foundation's Leadership Luncheon Series

As the first female dean of the U of C's Faculty of Social Work, Dr. Gayla Rogers has experienced her share of career triumphs and leadership struggles, some of which she shared with a sold-out audience at the Famous 5 Foundation’s Leadership Luncheon series on May 18, 2006. In her 30-minute talk, entitled “Lead From the Heart,” Rogers spoke about the art and craft of successful leadership, and of the challenges facing women leaders.
