Note
to self: Exercise
Make sure your personal digital assistant has blocked off time for exercise
as the fall rush begins. The Faculty of Kinesiology reminds all of the
benefits of physical exercise.
“Regular physical activity takes only a few minutes of your time each day
and can be done either continuously or intermittently,” says Colleen Parsons-Olsson,
Director of the University of Calgary’s Fitness and Lifestyle Centre.
“For
example, you can do 30 minutes of vigorous walking all at once, or you can break
it down into three 10-minute segments. Either way, only 2.1% of your day was
used! It’s not as time-consuming as you may think, and introducing daily
physical activity will keep you feeling fresh and sharp as well as contribute
to being more productive throughout the day.” September
13 to 19 is the Try Before You Buy Week. All fitness classes are free
at the U of C’s Fitness and Lifestyle Centre located in the Kinesiology
complex. For more information call 220-7749 or visit www.ucalgary.ca/campusrec.
Students also
save 50 percent off a student term drop-in pass if they purchase it
September 15, 16 or 17.
