Minister meets
with students

Minister of Advanced Education Dave Hancock joined Dr. Kathleen Scherf’s Introduction to Communications Studies class on October 12. The class is the largest first-year course offered by the Faculty of Communication and Culture. In the course, Scherf, dean of the faculty, helps students understand the theory—and practical implications—of various communication methods, including clips from Seinfeld, Trailer Park Boys and movies like Meet the Fockers. The course is designed to give students analytical tools to help them sift through today’s information world. Scherf invited Hancock as a “human clip” and he was offered the chance to “be in front of a large first-year class and see what it ’s like from the prof's point of view.” / Photo by Ken Bendiktsen
