Why should I get a vaccination?
The Calgary Health Region
advises that individuals born 1970 or later may have received
a first dose of the mumps-containing vaccine as infants.
However, recent mumps outbreaks in the Maritimes and elsewhere
indicate a single dose of mumps-containing vaccine has not
provided long-lasting protection against the disease. A second
dose of vaccine is recommended for adequate protection.
Who
is eligible to attend the UofC Mumps Vaccination Clinic
• All
people taking classes or working on University of Calgary
campuses AND
• who were born in Canada/U.S. 1970 or after and who
do not have documentation of receiving two doses of mumps-containing
vaccine OR
• who were born outside of Canada/U.S. regardless
of year of birth who do not have documentation of two
doses of mumps-containing vaccine.
