In Memoriam: Dolores Clarkson

By Michelle Cook

A new scholarship to support education students will honour the memory of long-time university staff member Dolores Clarkson, who passed away on March 10 after a short illness. Clarkson’s family, with the Faculty of Education, is creating the scholarship to commemorate her 19 years of dedicated service to the university.

Clarkson, 57, began work at the U of C in January 1985 in the computer science department. In 1989, she moved to the Faculty of Education where she held various positions, most recently as manager of the dean’s office.

An avid amateur chef, Clarkson led the Faculty of Education to victory in the President’s Chili Cookoff last summer with her winning recipe for Chili au Chocolat.

Clarkson is survived by her partner, Alain Boyer, two sons, Charles and Michael, her mother Carol Lowenberg and siblings Yvonne, Dianna and Graham.

For more information or to make a donation to the Dolores Clarkson Memorial Scholarship, contact Jennifer Diakiw at 220-7083 or jdiakiw@ucalgary.
