Social work visionary and trend guru honoured

Gayla Rogers

Social work visionary Gayla Rogers and trend guru Jeremy Gutsche will receive prestigious honours from the U of C Alumni Association at the 2010 Arch Awards.

As two outstanding alumni, Rogers and Gutsche will be honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Graduate of the Last Decade Award. A future alumnus, Rithesh Ram, will receive the Future Alumni Award.

"The Distinguished Alumna award has great meaning for me," says Rogers, who has been integral to the U of C community since 1974 as a student, then as a faculty member and now dean. "I'm grateful for the recognition it brings, not only to me but to women in academia, to educational leadership and to the noble profession of social work."

Gayla Rogers, BSW'74, MSW'78, will retire as dean of the Faculty of Social Work this summer. As her numerous awards and accolades attest, Rogers has inspired thousands of students and social work professionals with her authenticity, vision and outstanding leadership.
