PritzCory Pritz, defenseThe Dinos men’s and women’s hockey teams will experience the thrill of playing under the bright lights of the Scotiabank Saddledome for the final week of the inaugural Crowchild Classic.

Both Dinos teams will play their Mount Royal University Cougars counterparts in a double-header at the Saddledome on Thursday, Feb. 7 — with free admission for all spectators. Dinos fans are encouraged to show up in Dinos red to help create a “sea of red” that rivals those seen at Calgary Flames games.

Although the Dinos have already secured bragging rights by winning the 17-match, four-sport Crowchild Classic, Cougars fans are refusing to throw in the towel, and are intent on capturing city bragging rights by having more fans show up to the Saddledome games sporting their team’s colours.

The double-header is also part of the final weekend of Canada West hockey play, with the results likely to have playoff implications.

WickenheiserHayley Wickenheiser, forwardDinos athletics director Ron Wuotila is encouraging students, faculty, staff and alumni to don their Dinos red to support both University of Calgary teams.

“We’re thrilled that the Calgary Flames are opening the Saddledome to us and showcasing CIS hockey in this way,” says Dinos athletics director Ron Wuotila. “This will be a unique experience for our student-athletes to be able to play in an NHL facility, and it’s a great way to engage students, faculty and staff on both campuses to watch the Dinos play with the full Flames entertainment experience.”

Free tickets to the match are available at a number of outlets across campus.
