University of Calgary welcomes Canada’s Top 20 Under 20™ alumniFifty-five young leaders from across Canada will meet, August 4 – 8, at the MacEwan Student Centre to share their perspectives on current issues facing Canada and their role in the country’s future. The young leaders are Top 20 Under 20™ alumni who will take part in Courage to Soar 2009—a leadership conference presented by Youth in Motion and hosted by the Haskayne School of Business. Representing communities from coast to coast, participants include a diverse mix of Top 20 Under 20™ recipients and finalists dating back to the program’s inception in 2003. Each in their own right have affected positive change locally, provincially, nationally and globally through demonstrated leadership and innovation in environmental awareness, science, technology, arts and culture, and commercial social entrepreneurship. The annual conference offers valuable leadership development and mentorship opportunities for Canada's emerging young leaders. "Preparing young people to take on leadership roles in business and the community is what we do," says Leonard Waverman, dean of the Haskayne School of Business. “On behalf of the business school and the University of Calgary, I would like to congratulate the many talented participants. We need your skills and energy and we applaud your commitment to making this a better world."
