Dance season launches with Impact
The Professional Series launches the Program of Dance’s season of performance events. The series presents the work of established choreographers, including dance faculty members and national/international guests, with work performed by professional dancers.
Featured in this season’s Professional Series is Montreal dancer/choreographer Marc Boivin in his new work, Impact. This bold solo runs Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27 at 8 p.m. at the University Theatre. www.finearts.ucalgary.ca

Iron Science flexes creativity muscle
Courageous and entertaining Canadian science teachers will compete for the 2008 Iron Science title in MacEwan Hall on November 21. Teams of teachers cook up spectacular and imaginative presentations on science and engineering. The five finalist teams are chosen during playoffs at science centres across Canada in October and November, and will travel to Calgary for the final. Jazz and Latin improv
The Monday night Jazz Series brings audiences diverse jazz music experiences while showcasing local talent. Latin-Jazz group ¡Bomba! fuses their Cuban and Canadian roots to create a profound blend of Latin song styles and impeccable jazz improvisations.
