Playoff Battle of Alberta hits McMahon
After posting their best regular season since 1988 with a 7-1 record, the No. 2-ranked University of Calgary Dinos hit the playoff trail Saturday when they host the Alberta Golden Bears in a Canada West Semi-final.
Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at McMahon Stadium, and the game will be broadcast live on Shaw TV, The FAN 960, and
www.fan960.com.
The Dinos were originally scheduled to take on the University of Manitoba, but the Bisons were stripped of three wins due to the use of an ineligible player, moving the Golden Bears into third place.
Calgary Co-op and Dinos Football’s Fifth Quarter Association have teamed up once again to present the playoff tilt. Tickets are available now until Friday at all Calgary Co-op customer service centres for the discounted price of $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, and $25 for a family of up to five.
Tickets will also be available at the McMahon Stadium box office on game day, with regular playoff ticket pricing of $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and $40 for families in effect.
University of Calgary students will be admitted to the game at no charge, courtesy Calgary Co-op.
The Dinos defeated the Golden Bears in both their meetings this season, taking a 34-31 victory Sept. 12 at home before closing the season with a 40-5 walloping in Edmonton last Saturday. It is the first playoff meeting between the provincial rivals since 2004 and just the second time in history the teams will hook up in the post-season at McMahon Stadium.
Calgary is 2-2 all-time in the playoffs against Alberta.
