Apply Alberta

ApplyAlberta goes live

Applying for undergraduate admission to the University of Calgary just became easier for both students and staff with the advent of ApplyAlberta, the Alberta Post Secondary Application System.

ApplyAlberta allows students the advantage of only having to submit their biographical information and educational history once.  They can then use this same information to apply to other post-secondary institutions in Alberta, making the application to multiple institutions easier for students.

Both prospective students and university staff benefit from ApplyAlberta’s electronic transcript exchange.  The U of C is now able to request transcripts from Alberta Education and participating post-secondary institutions on the students behalf, eliminating the need for students to order transcripts, pay transcript fees and worry about deadlines.

“The advantages of ApplyAlberta benefit our staff members as much as they do students,” says David Johnston, associate vice-provost (enrolment) and registrar. “With an expected increase in application numbers this year, ApplyAlberta will make it easier for the university to receive student information necessary for processing applications.  This will allow our staff to relay admission decisions in an even more timely manner and focus more energy on advising students.”

All students, whether they are residents of Alberta or not, will use ApplyAlberta to make an application for undergraduate admission to the U of C.  Students are still required to pay an application fee to each institution they apply to.  The recommended deadline to submit an application for admission to the U of C is April 1, 2010.
