The University of Calgary faculty of environmental design is launching a new lecture series with a bang, bringing in one of architecture’s major players, Pritzker Architecture Prize-winner Thom Mayne.

The Pritzker Prize is basically the Noble Prize for architecture. If you’ve won it, you don’t need to explain yourself to anybody.

Airships could revolutionize Arctic transport

When it comes to moving cargo, air, rail, truck and ship are the traditional modes of transportation that leap to mind. But organizers of an upcoming conference want to convince business and industry to embrace airships as a revolutionary transportation and logistics solution.

Drumming up investment to build an airship sector will be among the topics at the fifth annual Airships to the Arctic business conference in Calgary Oct. 7 to 9, also sponsored by the Van Horne Institute at the University of Calgary.
