A new strain of E.coli has infected more than 2300 people and been fatal in at least 23 individuals.  Researchers at the University of Calgary are watching the E. coli O104 outbreak in Europe and know there are many questions the general public may have.

  • What is E. coli?
  • What’s different about this strain of E. coli?
  • Should we be concerned if travelling to Europe?
  • Can this new E. coli strain come to Canada?
  • Should I be worried? How do I protect myself?

The following researchers are available for interviews about E. coli:
