The Nickle re-opens in a new home

An iconic gallery on campus has a new name and a new home. The University of Calgary re-opens the Nickle Galleries tomorrow (formerly The Nickle Arts Museum) and is welcoming friends and supporters to experience the inaugural exhibit, We Tell Ourselves Stories.

WHAT: Re-opening of the Nickle Galleries – formerly the Nickle Arts Museum – at the University of Calgary with the new exhibition We Tell Our Stories.

WHEN: Thursday, October 4, 2012. Formal opening at 10:30 a.m. Guided tours and filming/photography opportunities available for media between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

WHERE: Nickle Galleries, ground floor, Taylor Family Digital Library

WHO: Tom Hickerson – University of Calgary vice provost (Libraries and Cultural Resources) Christine Sowiak – curator of art, Nickle Galleries Chika Modum – recent Master of Fine Arts graduate whose work is part of the new exhibition

PARKING: Media in a marked vehicle or with a business card on the dashboard identifying themselves as media are invited to park in any lot on campus free of charge.
