Tomorrow, the University of Calgary Solar Team will test its latest solar car on the track as the team launches its fourth annual tour of the province. The tour will help the team prepare for racing the Schulich Delta in the World Solar Challenge in Australia this October.

Over the next eight days, Albertans will get a chance to see the new Schulich Delta in action on Alberta highways. The tour is a chance to test the solar car on the open road and spread the word about sustainability and alternative energy.

The car was designed and built by 47 students at the University of Calgary. This is the team’s first car with four wheels, a passenger seat, two doors and trunk space. It also has a touch-screen dashboard and more than three times the battery life of the previous cars.
