University of Calgary Olympic Oval hosts free Family Day skate

Intact Insurance Family Fun Day, features free public skating and supports athletes development

Feb. 12, 2014

Bring your helmet and join three-time Olympic speedskating medalist Catriona Le May Doan on Family Day and at the University of Calgary Olympic Oval. Admission is free with a non-perishable food donation at the Intact Insurance Family Fun Day from 12 to 4 p.m. on Monday Feb 17. Besides skating on the world's fastest ice, there will be bouncy houses, face-painting, arts and crafts, as well as speed skating and precision skating demonstrations.

Olympic Oval athletes will be selling Papa John's Pizza, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to support Oval athlete development programs. The RE/MAX Autograph Area will feature Le May Doan and members of the Calgary Stampeders. Ollie the Olympic Oval Penguin, University of Calgary Dinos mascot Rex and Calgary Stampeder's Ralph the Dog will also be part of the fun!

All skaters must wear an accepted helmet (CSA approved) during public skating sessions. You will not be allowed on the ice without a helmet. This policy is implemented as a proactive safety measure to help protect skaters and ensure all users of the Olympic Oval enjoy their time skating.
