The Learning Commons welcomes Dr. Randy Garrison
On August 7th, Dr. Ron Bond announced the appointment of Dr. Randy Garrison as Director of the Learning Commons for a five-year term beginning on August 15th, 2001.
Dr. Garrison was a Full Professor and the Dean of the Faculty of Extension at the University of Alberta. Dr. Garrision received his B.Ed. and M.Ed. at the University of Calgary and His Ed.D. (1983) in Adult Education from the University of British Columbia. He was Director of Distance Education and Associate Dean, of the Faculty of Continuing Education from 1989-1996 at the University of Calgary. His research has focused on the teaching and learning transaction in higher, distance and adult education. His current research activities focus on facilitating higher-order learning in an online educational environment.
