Requirements for Entry into the Nanoscience Program
1 FCE in Mathematics and one or more FCEs chosen from Biology, Chemistry, Geology or Physics as dictated by requirements of the major program.

The minor in Nanoscience will consist of five full-course equivalents. We expect that students who graduate with this minor will have significant expertise in:

A. Equipment used in the characterization of nanomaterials
B.
Design and fabrication of nanomaterials
C.
Application of nanomaterials in: Life Sciences/Medicine, Energy/Environment, Telecom/Information Sciences

Some students may opt to complete fewer than five FCE; those who complete at least three FCEs in Nanoscience courses will be awarded a Concentration in Nanoscience.

Nanomaterials fabrication and Characterization Lab (NaCL)
All students in the Nanoscience Program will be trained in the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation. Students will gain experience in nanomaterial synthesis, atomic force microscopy, electron microscopy, optical techniques and thin film preparation and characterization.
