Canada’s Minister of State (Infrastructure and Communities) meets with environmental design students and profs

On Monday, media are invited to attend a roundtable discussion at the University of Calgary between the Hon. John Godfrey, Minister of State (Infrastructure and Communities), and students and professors of the U of C Faculty of Environmental Design.

Godfrey’s portfolio was formed to pursue one of the federal government’s top priorities: The New Deal for Cities and Communities.

Godfrey previously served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister with special emphasis on cities, from December 2003 to May 2004. He has been the Liberal Member of Parliament for the Toronto riding of Don Valley West since 1993.

He is familiar to many as the former editor of The Financial Post, a position he held from 1987 to 1991. He was also the Vice-President of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, which studies social, economic and scientific issues of major importance for Canada. He began his career as an academic at Dalhousie University where he taught for 17 years as a professor of history, 10 of which he also served as President of the University of King's College, Halifax.
