The Medical Science Graduate Program has funds allocated annually from the Faculty of Graduate Studies as well as the Faculty of Medicine, based upon enrolment numbers. The funding that is allocated includes units of Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) awards, units of Graduate Research Scholarship (GRS) awards, and Faculty of Medicine Research Trust funds. There are 3 ways in which students can receive scholarship funding from these sources:
1. Students paying full program fees:
Scholarships are paid to all Medical Science MSc and PhD students paying FULL program fees (award and non award holders). Students that qualify will be paid on the first anniversary date of their enrolment in the Medical Science graduate program and at the end of each anniversary year when full program fees were paid. All program requirements must be met for students to be eligible for this award.
2. Academic productivity:
Scholarships are paid to MSc and PhD students based on academic productivity. The student must show proof of a 1 st author, peer-reviewed paper that is directly related to the student's degree program. The amount available is $500 per application. Priority is given to first time applicants in any year of his/her program. Proof is provided by submitting a Letter of Acceptance from the publisher signed by the student's supervisor. The Letter of Acceptance must be received during the time the student is enrolled in the program. The Letter of Acceptance must be submitted with a completed Medical Science Program Specific Award form.
3. International conference or scientific meeting:
Scholarships are also paid to MSc and PhD students attending an international conference or scientific meeting. The student must show proof of registration at the conference or meeting and a letter of acknowledgement from the organizers attesting that his/her paper, abstract or other project has been accepted for presentation. The proof of registration and letter of acknowledgement must be signed by the student's supervisor. The amount available is $500 per application. Priority is given to first time applicants in any year of his/her program. Letter of acceptance must be received during the period in which the student is enrolled in the program. The Letter of Acceptance must be submitted with a completed Medical Science Program Specific Award form.
