Wireless Network - AirUC-Guest

This service is for: 
Prospective Students, Students, Grad Students, Faculty & Staff, Alumni, Continuing Education Students, Retirees, Visitors

AirUC-Secure is the encrypted wireless network at the University of Calgary.

Available in all buildings on campus, as well as outdoors, AirUC-Secure is the preferred university wireless connection for clients requiring mobile access to the Internet.

Note: a valid IT username and password (IT Account) is required to connect to the network.

What is AirUC-Guest?

AirUC-Guest will replace AirUC and RezNet Wi-Fi networks for visitors to the university. AirUC-Guest features a new and simple to use portal with which visitors can create guest accounts for wireless internet access across all four university campuses.

Who are the primary users of AirUC-Guest?

Conference attendees, on-site Continuing Education students, Hotel Alma and Residence guests, and general visitors to the university will all be able to use AirUC-Guest upon successful registration.

How do I register for AirUC-Guest?

Connect to the AirUC-Guest Wireless Network on your device. Upon opening up a new browser window, you will be redirected to a registration page.

What do I need to register for AirUC-Guest?

You need to have a valid email address and telephone number (SMS enabled) in order to register. You will be sent a password via both email message and SMS text message upon successful registration on the AirUC-Guest portal.

How long will AirUC-Guest wireless access last for?

Access to AirUC-Guest will last for 72 hours across all four university campuses. If your account is sponsored by a UCalgary staff or faculty member, they can extend the duration of your access.

What is a sponsor? Is it mandatory to have one?

Any UCalgary staff or faculty member with a valid IT Account can act as a sponsor for AirUC-Guest access. You do not need a sponsor in order to register an account for AirUC-Guest but your access will be limited to 72 hours. The sponsor will be able to set the duration of your wireless network access.

What if I don’t have a legitimate email address and SMS text messaging enabled telephone number?

Visitors without access to email and an SMS enabled telephone number will need to contact the IT Support Centre at 403-220-5555 or visit in person on the 7th floor of Math Sciences (MS 773 — Mon-Fri: 8:00AM – 5:00PM Sat/Sun: 10:00AM – 2:00PM).

What can I access when connected to AirUC-Guest?

You will have wireless internet access across all four campuses with a simple login procedure. If you require access to other services (e.g. D2L, library database access, email account or other systems and facilities), please visit
