Note: Automatic email forwarding is only available for students. According to the university’s Electronic Communications policy, staff and faculty are not eligible for this service.
If you prefer to use a departmental e-mail service or an off-campus e-mail service, you may want to automatically forward mail sent to your U of C address there. You may also want to forward your mail to someone else on campus if you are away for an extended period.
To turn forwarding on or off use the E-mail Forwarding Utility page on the Web.
You can combine e-mail forwarding with an automatic response to inform your correspondees of your new address, for example.
If you find that you have not been receiving any mail lately, maybe you have set up mail forwarding and forgot to turn it off. Check the status of your forward at the E-mail Forwarding Utility page.
IMPORTANT: ensure that the forwarding is working (to a valid e-mail address) by sending yourself a message and ensuring it arrives. Once forwarding is in place all e-mail is forwarded (including that of a personal or confidential nature).
