For over a decade, the annual Taking Flight Festival has showcased our students’ voracious energy, keen curiosity, unfettered imagination, and emerging expertise. In projects conceived, directed, designed, produced and performed by undergraduate and graduate students, a broad range of performance forms and genres have lifted off from our stages, from bold and innovative interpretations of classic texts through original stagings of new writing and collaboratively devised works of performance-creation.
Reflecting Drama’s transition from a separate department to an integrated division within the School of Creative and Performing Arts, this season’s festival features expanded interdisciplinary programming that embraces student accomplishment in Dance and Music as well. Your Taking Flight pass this year will include admission to Dance@Night as well as a series of Chamber Music concerts, the New Music Ensemble, and the latest offering from the Voice Lab/Opera Workshop. As yet another added feature, the festival will also offer a window on the SCPA’s next major interdisciplinary project, slated for full production in 2017/2018.
How better to capture the radical aspirations and accomplishments of our courageous, multi-talented students within all three of our divisions?
