Emergency Management Program
Communication in an emergency situation may come to the University campus community through a variety of resources.
The Department of University Relations is responsible for all aspects of media relations and internal communications during an emergency. They employ strategic communications to inform the campus community of any danger to safety of individuals and to maintain the image and reputation of the University.
University Spokesperson and Media Calls:
In an emergency situation, University Relations will appoint a University Spokesperson.
Employees who have not received media training and are not designated spokespersons must politely decline to respond to media inquiries while at the same time offering to arrange for a representative of the Department of University Relations to contact the media representative. They can contact the Department of University Relations at 220-5726 to have a spokesperson respond promptly.
