I supervise student research mainly on phonology. The U of C is a great place for such research; aside from me, there are a number of other phonologists on hand, including John Archibald, Robert Murray, Suzanne Curtin, Douglas Walker, Mary Grantham O’Brien, and Ozouf Amedegnato. I also supervise student research on Canadian indigenous languages. In the last ten years or so I've had the privilege to work with speakers of two dozen such languages, including Wakashan Oowekyala and Nuu-chah-nulth, Algonquian Blackfoot and Plains Cree, Dené-Yeniseian Tsúùt'ínà and Gwich’in, and Siouan Stoney/Nakoda and Dakota. I welcome graduate students who wish to join me in studying such languages.
