Dr. Eric Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. Dr. Smith’s research program investigates the risk factors and consequences of diseases of the cerebral microcirculation. There are two primary areas of Dr. Smith’s research: 1) understanding vascular contributions to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease, and 2) determining the influence of medical and surgical treatment on outcomes of patients with stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage. In addition to his research, Dr. Smith works with the Calgary Stroke Program and the Cognitive Assessment Clinic, Alberta Health Services, to provide care for patients with acute stroke, intracerebral Hemorrhage, and dementia.
