My dad is an alumnus of the U of C and this played a part in my choosing to study here. The U of C offers a great economics program with established and well known professors—so choosing the University of Calgary was an easy choice for me.
Upon completion of my Bachelors degree, I would like to work on my Masters in economics. After that I’d like to obtain employment with the oil and gas industry as an economist. I'm a Status-Indian from the Blood Reserve so I’d like to conduct this work within the aboriginal sector.
Make sure you use your time wisely. A plan of action always helped me to divide my time equally among my classes.
Don’t be afraid to ask your professors questions…there is no such thing as a dumb question.
Get involved and utilize the Co-curricular Record (CCR). The CCR is a tool that will help you separate yourself from others when you’re searching for jobs.
A great area to study is in the Native Centre. They have lockers, computer labs and study rooms for members. It’s a quiet and very friendly environment.
Since I hang out in the Native Centre in MacHall, all I have to do is go downstairs and grab a bite. I also enjoy the pot luck lunches and meals that we put on in the Native Centre.
