Apply to be a Peer Helper

The University of Calgary is looking for inspired, enthusiastic student volunteers who are dedicated to personal growth, assisting those around them, and making a difference in the lives of others.

Through the Peer Helper Program, there is a multitude of positions available, and at many different campus offices; all of which can offer you the opportunity for a unique and rewarding volunteer experience.

All of the offices that participate in the Peer Helper Program are committed to your success and professional development, both as a student and beyond. Many of the Peer Helper positions offer multiple leadership development opportunities, the chance to peer mentor, gain event planning experience, and opportunities to attend different workshops, events, and training sessions. Peer Helpers also attend many different university events, and have the opportunity to network with university faculty and staff, as well as community members.

Nominations open for 2012 President's Award

Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit nominations for the 2012 President's Award for Excellence in Student Leadership. The deadline for online nominations is March 2.

This award recognizes graduating students (undergraduate or graduate) who are outstanding student leaders. Up to five awards are given at June convocation.

Student leadership is key in shaping student experience at the University of Calgary, says Ryan Lee, interim vice-provost (Students). To recognize some of our best student leaders is important to further foster leadership potential in all of our students.

Nominators must have consent from the students whose names are put forward to the selection committee, which has representation from the Students Union and the Graduate Student's Association. The committee requires at least two letters of reference from students, faculty or staff at the University of Calgary.
