Prof Scores European Music Award
One of Europe’s top awards for classical recordings was given to music
professor Victor Coelho in May for a CD based on a 17th-century musical masterpiece.
The CD, La Notte d'Amore: Music for the Wedding of Cosimo Il Medici and Maria
Magdelena of Austria, was finally recorded after years combing through libraries
and archives across Europe searching for and piecing together the various scores,
poetry, and other historical details of the event. He also played the lute
on the recording that was awarded the Prelude Classical Award in the category
of baroque vocal: ensemble.
