Profile

Dr. Doreen Rabi is the Division Head of Endocrinology and Metabolism and an academic endocrinologist in the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary. She completed medical school at the University of Western Ontario (UWO) and went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine at Dalhousie University. She returned to UWO to do her fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Rabi joined the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary as a Clinical Scholar in 2003 and began graduate studies in clinical epidemiology within the Department of Community Health Sciences. She is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine and has cross appointments with the Departments of Community Health and Cardiac Sciences. She is an Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR) Population Health Investigator and has funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Dr. Rabi is a co-investigator in the Alliance of Canadian Health Outcome Researchers in Diabetes (ACHORD, www.achord.ca) and is on the steering committee for the Gender and Sex Determinant of Cardiovascular Diseases: From Bench to Beyond Interdisciplinary Capacity Enhancement Team (GENESIS, www.genesisteam.ca). She is also a co-investigator on the GENESIS PRAXY study which seeks to determine sex-specific determinants of premature acute coronary syndromes.
