Part-time Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Research in Breast Cancer Screening
The University of Calgary - Qatar is recruiting one part-time postdoctoral fellow funded through the Qatar National Research Fund to start in 2012.
The post doctoral position will focus on developing original research and participating in ongoing research in breast cancer early detection and intervention studies that are being conducted with women, men, and health care providers living in the State of Qatar.
This research is carried out in conjunction with the Hamad Medical Corporation and the Qatar Primary Health Care department. Studies involve program development for breast cancer screening that aims to facilitate early diagnosis and treatments.
Term of Award
Maximum 2 years (renewable at the end of each annum).
Location of Training
This Part-time Fellowship award is tenable only at the University of Calgary – Qatar. The individual is required to spend a maximum of 3 months in Doha, Qatar per each annum for the duration of the award. The rest of the annum can be spending in Canada working on the project’s research activities.
Stipend
The stipend will be $30,000 USD per annum
Supplemental Income
Each annum student may receive supplemental incomes as long as the value of all the income sources does not exceed 100% of the award per that annum. However, individual must still ensure that no more than 300 hours per annum are committed to non-research activities.
Role Description and Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and implementation of studies.
Conduct data analysis and prepare abstracts, reports and scientific manuscripts to disseminate studies findings. Prepare and present research results at meetings and scientific conferences. Assist the program Principal Investigator with drafting/writing grant proposals for new funding, and other research reports and documents. Actively participate in program quality control efforts.
Maintain confidentiality of data. Actively create and maintain an excellent, high quality program.
Perform other related duties, as required.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Nursing, Public Health, or a related discipline. Demonstrated ability to conduct epidemiologic and narrative data analysis is required. Demonstrated ability to prepare technical and scientific manuscripts, reports, charts and other documents. Demonstrated public speaking experience and ability to relate well with health care professionals. Knowledgeable of and experience with the health care system. Experience with grant preparation.
