The Office of PGME in the Faculty of Medicine of McGill University is seeking applications for a Director of Assessment and Evaluation.
Position:
This individual will work closely with McGill’sRoyalCollegeand CFPC-approved residency programs to develop, validate, and implement assessment tools in residency training. These tools will need to be innovative and address the growing requirement for work-based real-time assessments as outlined in the Future of Medical Education project. It is also expected that this person would be involved in program evaluation, particularly in the area ofRoyalCollegeandCollegeofFamily Physiciansaccreditation. With anticipated changes in the accreditation process, it will be essential to develop robust and reliable in-house approaches to program evaluation. Scholarly activity will be expected as part of the research and development process to disseminate best practices to the Canadian and international medical education communities.
The successful applicant will hold a non-tenure track appointment in the Faculty of Medicine beginning as early as July 1st, 2012. He or she will be appointed as a Member of the Centre for Medical Education in the Faculty of Medicine and report jointly to the Dean of Postgraduate Medical Education and the Director of the Centre for Medical Education. This position is a contract position for a minimum of three years, with an automatic review performed after one year. The salary will be commensurate with experience.
Education/Experience
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in education (or related field) with demonstrated expertise in testing and evaluation. Knowledge of assessment methods and theory, as well as quantitative and qualitative research methodologies is required, as is evidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Experience in health sciences education and program evaluation would be an asset.
